FAQ’s for Caregivers
What is the My Mental Health Matters campaign?
My Mental Health Matters features information from our clinical experts and offers resources and tips for coping with challenges caregivers may be experiencing. The program harnesses all of Providence’s behavioral health programs and puts them in a single place for caregivers to access, using the behavioral health concierge program as a single point of contact for caregivers who want additional resources.
As part of this program, every caregiver at Providence will be invited to take a “mental health checkup”. It’s a confidential and anonymous assessment that can help identify how well caregivers are managing their mental health. It can also point them in the right direction for support and resources.

Why is PSJH prioritizing another Behavioral Health support service?
Despite the recognition that healthcare professionals receive, they experience an elevated risk of suicide. Until now, Providence has not had a comprehensive caregiver education program including screening, treatment or postvention. This gap is of elevated concern due to the chronic disruption, stress and impact the COVID-19 pandemic is having on our caregiver community.
My Mental Health Matters delivers a regionally targeted campaign that leverages existing work from Work2BeWell, No One Cares Alone, and messaging from the interactive screening program developed by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
How is this different from other system behavioral health resources?
My Mental Health Matters is not a separate program from other resources offered by Providence. Instead, it brings all those resources together in one site and creates a single point of contact for those wanting a higher level of support through the behavioral health concierge service.

Is this anonymous?
Yes. During the program, caregivers will have an opportunity to complete a mental health checkup. The checkup tool is created by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is not completed or stored on Providence servers.
The mental health check-up is not:
- Crisis intervention
- Emergency response
- Clinical service
- Diagnostic tool
The mental health check-up is:
- An online screening program to connect people who are struggling to care before those struggles become a crisis
- Completely anonymous – protects confidentiality and encourages honest responses
- A tool allowing for asynchronous dialogue with counselor while protecting anonymity
Who benefits from this resource?
My Mental Health Matters is available to all caregivers employed by Providence and its affiliates. Additional resources are listed on the site for non-employed providers and contract caregivers.
Core Leader Resources
How can I help normalize discussing mental health within my team?
As Core Leaders, you both create and reinforce the culture. You can help normalize mental health discussions by using the Express, Model, and Reinforce model:
Express: Personal announcement of campaign to ministry
- Include materials (videos and website) in ministry leader meetings
- Post education in common areas about signs and symptoms observed during a mental health challenge
Model: Share a mental health safety story at the daily safety huddle
Reinforce: Include a wellness goal for mental health in annual caregiver performance reviews and leader rounding
Where can I find the quick-reference cards and flyers to post in team spaces?
A digital flier is included in regional toolkits to download and distribute as the program is launched in your service area. Check with your local communications team for more information, or email MyMentalHealthMatters@providence.org.
